What Is the Better Business Bureau (BBB)?

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a consumer-focused organization that helps customers research businesses and file complaints. It is widely trusted and often used by consumers when:

  • Evaluating a business before making a purchase

  • Filing formal complaints against a company

  • Reviewing how businesses handle customer issues

BBB has two primary types of public feedback:

BBB Complaints

  • Formal consumer complaints

  • Publicly visible conversations

  • Businesses can respond directly on the BBB platform

  • Customers can reply back, creating a public resolution trail

BBB Reviews

  • Public star-based reviews

  • Businesses can also respond publicly

  • Often viewed alongside complaints by potential customers


What Can Chatavise Do With BBB?

When connected to BBB, Chatavise allows you to:

  • Track BBB reviews and complaints in your reviews dashboard

  • Filter BBB feedback alongside Google and Facebook reviews

  • Add internal tags, notes, and mentions

  • Attribute feedback to locations and team members

Important Limitation

Chatavise does not support replying to BBB reviews or complaints directly.
Responses must be handled inside your BBB account.


What You Need Before Connecting BBB

To connect BBB to Chatavise, you’ll need:

  • An active BBB business listing

  • Access to your business’s main BBB profile URL

  • A Chatavise business (location) profile

If you don’t yet have a BBB listing, you can submit your business directly through the BBB directory.


How to Connect a BBB Business to Chatavise

1. Open the BBB Integration Page

Navigate to the BBB integration area inside Chatavise.
You’ll see two sections:

  • Overview

  • Businesses

Select Businesses to continue.


2. Copy Your BBB Business Profile URL

  • Open your business’s BBB profile in a browser

  • Copy the main profile URL

  • Do not copy:

    • The reviews page URL

    • The complaints page URL

Only the primary BBB business page URL should be used.


3. Add the Business in Chatavise

  • Click Add Business

  • Paste the BBB profile URL

  • Select the Chatavise location you want to associate

  • Click Connect

Chatavise will immediately begin syncing BBB reviews and complaints.


Viewing BBB Reviews and Complaints

Once connected:

  • Go to your Reviews section

  • Use the BBB filter to view BBB-only feedback

  • You can:

    • View complaint and review details

    • Add internal notes

    • Tag reviews

    • Mention teammates

    • Attribute feedback to locations or team members

BBB data behaves similarly to Google and Facebook reviews within Chatavise.


Sync Frequency for BBB Data

  • BBB reviews and complaints sync multiple times per week

  • Syncing is not real-time, unlike Google or Facebook

  • New feedback may take some time to appear


Disconnecting a BBB Business

If you choose to disconnect:

  • Click Remove on the BBB business

  • All BBB reviews and complaints associated with that profile will be removed from Chatavise

  • You can reconnect at any time to re-sync the data
