The Competitor Tracking feature in Chatavise helps you monitor your local market performance by comparing your review growth against nearby competitors. This insight lets you measure progress, identify opportunities, and track how your review strategy stacks up over time.

1. Why Competitor Tracking Matters

While gaining reviews is important, knowing how your competitors perform provides essential context. Tracking review activity across competitors helps you:

  • See how fast competitors are gaining reviews.

  • Benchmark your performance to ensure you’re staying ahead.

  • Visualize progress as Chatavise automation accelerates your review collection.

Many Chatavise clients start behind major competitors but become #1 in local Google review count within 3–4 months using automated review requests via text.

2. Accessing Competitor Tracking

You can find Competitor Tracking in your Reviews Suite sidebar under Reviews → Competitor Tracking.

If your business has multiple locations, you’ll be able to:

  • Filter between businesses or locations.

  • View competitors for each location separately.

If you only manage one business, only that location’s competitor list will appear.

3. Using Filters and Viewing Data

At the top of the page, you’ll find several filters:

  • Locations: Switch between your business locations (if applicable).

  • Show Inactive: View competitors you previously tracked but deactivated.

  • Date Range: Filter metrics for the past 30 days or a custom timeframe.

Each competitor card or row displays:

  • Name of the business.

  • Total Review Count.

  • Number of Reviews Gained within the selected period.

  • Average Star Rating.

This allows for a quick at-a-glance comparison between you and your top competitors.

4. Adding a Competitor

To add a new competitor:

  1. Click Add Competitor.

  2. Enter the business name.

  3. (Optional) Check the box “This is my location” if adding your own business for benchmarking.

  4. Use the lookup tool to find your business or competitors:

    • Select your state and city (e.g., Georgia → Atlanta).

    • Search for a business category (e.g., carpet cleaning).

    • Choose the correct listing from the results.

  5. Click Add Competitor.

Once added, Chatavise will start tracking their review count automatically from that day forward.

5. Editing or Managing Competitors

You can manage existing entries easily:

  • Edit: Click the edit icon to update a competitor’s name or mark it as your location.

  • Deactivate/Hide: Stop tracking by toggling off a competitor. It will disappear from the active list but remain accessible if you re-enable Show Inactive.

  • Reactivate: Simply toggle it back on to resume tracking.

Chatavise retains all historical data for inactive competitors, ensuring your tracking history stays complete.

6. Data Insights and Growth Tracking

The dashboard updates automatically, allowing you to:

  • See how many new reviews competitors gain weekly or monthly.

  • Compare your growth rate against theirs.

  • Track your overall rating alongside the local market average.

This data is invaluable when evaluating whether your current review invite strategy is keeping pace—or outpacing—your competitors.

7. Platform Coverage

Currently, Competitor Tracking only supports Google Reviews.
Future updates will expand this to include other platforms such as Facebook, Yelp, and TripAdvisor.

8. Best Practices

  • Set up tracking right away for your business and top competitors.

  • Use it as motivation — aim to outpace the fastest-growing competitor.

  • Pair it with automated review invites to accelerate growth and gain visibility.

  • Revisit monthly to adjust tactics and celebrate progress.
