Overview

The Campaigns feature in Chatavise makes it simple to craft SMS campaigns that drive results while staying compliant with regulations. This guide walks through building your first campaign, choosing the right type, segmenting your recipients, writing effective messages, and scheduling delivery.

1. Choose the Campaign Type

When starting a new campaign, first decide on the purpose:

  • Promotional Campaigns: For marketing SMS messages sent only to subscribers who have explicitly opted in. Always ensure consent has been recorded.

  • Transactional Campaigns: For informational updates to existing paying customers (e.g., service reminders, reschedules). These must not contain promotions.

⚠️ Important: Never send promotional material in transactional campaigns. Violating this can lead to serious carrier and FCC penalties.

2. Select Recipients

Recipient selection is critical for success and compliance.

  • Filter by business location if your account manages multiple locations.

  • Use tags to target relevant groups (e.g., AirDuct Interested).

  • Remember: SMS makes opting out very easy, so sending highly targeted and relevant content reduces opt-outs.

3. Write Your Campaign Message

Best practices for strong messages:

  • Keep it short (under 160 characters if possible).

  • Personalize using message variables like first name.

  • Identify your business so recipients know who you are.

  • Include a clear CTA (e.g., Text DUCT to claim your $50 discount).

  • Create urgency (e.g., Offer ends this weekend).

  • Stay compliant: All Chatavise campaigns automatically include compliant opt-out instructions.

4. Add Media (Optional)

  • Add images or emojis to make your message more engaging.

  • Remember: SMS = 1 credit per 160 chars. MMS (with images/emojis) = 3 credits.

5. Schedule Delivery

  • Pick the date and time your campaign should run.

  • Best practice: Send between 8 AM and 6 PM to respect your recipients.

  • Check state regulations to avoid restricted hours.

  • Always be prepared to respond quickly if recipients reply—SMS is immediate.

6. Test Before Sending

  • Use the Test Campaign option to send a preview to yourself or your team.

  • Verify the personalization, CTA, and links work as intended.

7. Launch Your Campaign

  • Once everything looks good, click Run Campaign.

  • Confirm that recipients have given explicit opt-in consent.

  • If using Chatavise’s lead forms or keywords, proof of opt-in is automatically tracked and stored for compliance.
